The Philippines is on the verge of toppling Singapore by rushing forward with a comprehensive new casino resort development project.Up to US$12 billion investment will be used per project.
The first project will begin in Manila. There are also plans to open eight more casino projects in popular tourist destinations such as Cebu and Boracay by the end of 2024 at the Clark base, a former U.S. Air Force base.It has become the second largest gambling center in Asia after Macau, which is pushing the Philippines over the edge.
Today, the Philippines is dependent on integrated resorts and casinos. With the goal this year to help revitalize the tourism industry and bring in 7.7 million foreign visitors, up from 5.45 million in 2023, overall gambling revenues would increase to $61 billion. This is above Singapore's overall estimated annual gambling revenue of about $6 billion.
